World Cup Fever - Wednesday, June 28
I've been seeing lots of criticism regarding this year's identity for the World Cup,
Erik Spiekermann, one of Germany's top designers has something to say... Also, check out a few of initial executions from Germany's
11 Designer, I especially like directions 8 and 9. Love to see all this German love happening, even if it's not always all positive.
While I'm at it, wanted to make sure everyone is catching these VW ads,
Un-pimp i,
Un-pimp ii,
Un-pimp iii. Now that's some style.
Days Ahead
So yea, Wednesday morning and it's been a fairly long stretch since I've really had space to explore all the change happening in my life. Now living in the bay area has been a good change from being in Portland. I love the rose city in the NorthWest though, it's got a lot to offer. Fully miss the afternoon breaks hanging with friends for hours at a time, talking about nothing, sipping hot chai, enjoying the Stumptown roast in the air and schemeing about summer. Yup, the Good Life. Speaking of which, I'm heading up to Portland this weekend to check in on everything happening up there... Looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends, only been 1month, but feels much longer.
If you're around the bay this weekend, check out the
Rock Paper Scissors Collective for some Oakland events. Also, this caught my eye recently,
Remade in America. Also, found this link in my inbox, pretty nice,
NFCTD. And for some serious content that always makes my happy,
FIFA WORLD CUP.
Thinking of the gods - Monday, June 19
Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom and leadership. She is known for counseling warriors in times of conflict. Athena helps us to find peaceful solutions in our lives. When and if the time comes to do battle, she guides us to use intellect to find resolution. She also guides our creative spirit to enable us to tap into our essence to find resolutions to our innermost desires!
World Cup Action - Friday, June 9
It's on. World Cup 2006. In just 30minutes I'll be sitting in front of a huge projector enjoying the kickoff game to some serious match play as teams from around the world compete for the rights to claim world champions. Lots of amazing players this year and since it's all being played in Germany the fans will hanging on every minute. First up, Germany v Costa Rica.
Silicon Valley - Wednesday, June 7
Life continues to put-put along for me down here in Silicon Valley. Been lovin everything coming my way lately. Went out to a few local waterin' holes this past weekend. Hiked out into the wonders of my local forest. Cleaned up a huge digital mess called my Desktop. Designed lots of new fancy ads'n stuff for SmartMonkey Foods. Worked out a little too hard on both days. Spent Monday searching for some reserve energy that just wasn't there.... then, passed out early. Here's how I spend
my evenings.
Music Love - Monday, June 5
Video explains the world's most important 6-sec drum loop. The 'Amen Break'. Even if it's not the best in the world, the vid is a great watch.
Rest - Saturday, June 3
Wow, serious week. Flew by. Looking forward to taking the next 2days resting and relaxing. Saturday I'll be checking out a local hike, keepin it mellow otherwise. Sunday I'm heading over to check out some skateboarding action in south San Jose, part of a nationwide tour. In the afternoon Sunday there's also a lowrider festival I've been waiting all week to check out. Heard about it from a few people during the week, so, looking forward to it. I haven't ventured out too much since work has been taking a huge priority right now, but all it good ways.
SmartMonkey Foods is ramping up just the way I could've hoped, look for our stuff at Wild Oats and Whole Foods super soon. I'll be posting all the locations as they hit. So sweet!
