Fresh - Friday, February 24
Had a chance to finally get through some of my photos from Mexico, posted up a bunch of new stuff today. Feels good to have a fresh look for this site. Lots of things in the mix, more Mexico eye candy for sure. Also, a quick peak at a
fashion shoot I just art directed, details are still under wraps. Plus, keep an eye out for the next Dieselboy release over at
HUMAN IMPRINT. Can't fucking wait.
Blast of Past - Wednesday, February 22
Why is new always better? Why is smaller more desirable? Why is technology so soulless? Why should it not be fun & beautiful & individual? Why must it always look forwards, never backwards?
HULGER has come to answer these questions. Adding some flavour to the block of technology we all call mobiles.
An Old Fav - Tuesday, February 21
Something recently reminded me of an old favourite site for photographer
Matthew Mahon. Love the experience of this site, plus, all the commentary is great! Always good when you see people having fun and not taking everything so seriously. Anyways, will always be one of my favourites, super simple and minimal. Love it.
Photo Awards - Thursday, February 16
International Photography Awards. Enter the
2006 IPA INTERNATIONAL photographer of the year competition, the deadline is coming up on the 31st of May.
Jim Fiscus was last year's winner, which includes a nice chunk of change, 10,000 dollars. Another great series from last year was
'Cort Guitar' photographed by
Lars Topelmann, who by the way is living in Portland, OR. I was checking out his book and realize we have a connection through some adidas work involving the New York Yankees. Funny how small the world really is. Cheers to great photographers.
Surf - Tuesday, February 14
I realize I'm a little late in posting this one, but
Mavericks 2006 was home to some big waves and surf legends, some great pics hosted by SFGATE. All makes me want to head back to Mexico for some more surf and turf.
Sun - Thursday, February 9
The skies around Portland have once again cleared and coming from a sun-worshiping person: Love it!
Back HOME - Wednesday, February 8
Ah, my urls are now safely in the hands of the tech gurus over at
MediaTemple. Not sure really why I left this hosting service in the first place. Feels good to be back for sure. Oh hey, mention decibeldragon.com if you decide to join the team. Thanks!
Noise - Sunday, February 5
In the midst of changing up hosting locations. All this buzz about this that and the other. My heading is seriously spinning from everything happening - and of course, all at once.
Film - Thursday, February 2
Broken Flowers, film by Jim Jarmusch, one of my favourite of late. Really love the style, pacing and feeling of this film. Jarmusch is a genius at making films that speak to humanity.
Bang, it's February - Wednesday, February 1
First day of February and damn, the sun has finally broke through the cloud cover and 'Hey, I actually have a shadow!'. The last couple of weeks have been spent indoors anyways, so I can't say I really hated all the rain. The last day of January I worked a ton in the morning, drank lunch with Ani (Yea, we're doing a month long cleanse currently), spent the afternoon checking out some houses I'd like to buy and then dropped into Cynthia and Didrick's place for some 'happy-hour' tea. St John's is a neighborhood in N Portland, cute little hood with a great mini-cinema where we checked out
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Super entertaining, laughed a lot, but why a finger? Couldn't figure out how that played into things, seemed a little inappropriate, otherwise a good flick.
