MEX I go - Friday, December 16
Pretty soon now I head to the airport and jumping on an Air Mexicana flight heading directly to Mexico City. Can't wait either! Lots of pixel pushing going on in the final hours. Been glued to the phone, racking up my mobile bill as well as my blood pressure. Damn, everytime, down to the last minute... still putting out mini-explosions often caused by holiday drama. Too much spiked cider and tendencies to over indulge near holidays - just the tip of madness, or is it just pure fun. I tend to forget sometimes. AHHHH, Mexico. I'll be writing in my journal, shooting tons of pics and eating some amazing organic food. And planning to surf, daily - destination, Puerto Escondido. Until 2006.... Cheers.
DEC CRAZINESS - Wednesday, December 14
Yea, anyone who says December is a quiet month I want to swap lives with you next year. This month has been a complete whirlwind of projects, travel and not much sleep. He, who needs sleep anyways? This week, the partners of SmartMonkey Foods are all gathering together to talk about new stuff and what's to come in 2006. I'm still in the planning stages for next year myself, hoping to settle on what's really going to go down. Before the end of the year I'm heading to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, in hopes to find warm temps, sun and some beautiful surf. The countdown begins.
Stop Frame Genius - Monday, December 5
The animation studios around the world seem to be experiencing a pretty amazing popularity these past few years. It's great to see so much computer-generated stuff, but still keep in mind that 'CONTENT IS KING', one of the mantras I tend to live by. There's no disputing that a great story will always out perform the slickest of executions, which is why I love the old-skool stop frame stuff - all about concept and content.
LAIKA, the new Will Vinton Studios is home to Mark Gustafson a great commercial director. Also,
Aardman Animations, the creators of the magical
Wallace and Gromit, must see The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Winter Hibernation - Friday, December 2
Yup, already December. November was pretty much a blur, lots of plane travel and many hours of staring at this lovely monitor. Pretty much the time of year where everyone starts to realize the year is coming to a close and... yea, I need this done and that finished and oh, I need it now... So, the next couple of weeks I'll be hiding out in my well-heated studio, putting the finishing touches on a bunch of design projects and burning CDs to be shipped out and officially off my plate... fingers crossed.
