A Good Day for Jazz and Art - Thursday, September 18
Thursdays in Portland seem to be the night to go out. I think Thursdays in other metro cities are good nights as well, but especially here in Portland. Lots of jazz happening tonight, time to sit back in a dark corner, sip a glass of your favourite poison and unwind.
PICA has brought many great artists and performers here to the city to be a part of TBA. PICA's first annual festival, TBA (Time Based Art), brings together a remarkable group world artists for ten days of thoughtful, innovative and inspiring performances that address the cultures, aesthetics, issues and ideas of today. Mid September Sun - Sunday, September 14
Watching the sun sitting a little lower in the sky I am beginning to remember the fruits of summer and realize I continue to think of a warm indian summer extending late into fall. Although I do love the heat of the sun I too love the changing of seasons.
Last week was spent with family visiting the beautiful northwest. Today we all say goodbye and plan to meet again soon. Holiday plans were discussed, though I enjoy air travel much better when the airports are filled with frequent flyers not families headed for the other coast. January is a great month to fly while July can be very challenging at best. Timing is everything, with full flights, tightened security and fewer airplanes it's already a challenge - travel light and focus on the experiences you will have; not the items in your luggage.
Remember to take time to stare at the sun, eat with your eyes and connect with the earth. For afterall, it's Sunday!
