LTJ in Portland at Ohm - Thursday, April 29
Progression Sessions finally makes its way here to Portland. Great to see LTJ, last time I saw him I was in London and it was 2002 I believe. Some great sounds of the urban drum and bass scene last night, hopefully the crew enjoyed the rest of their morning after their performance. They're all on a plane right now heading back to the UK for a show at GNCS in Aylesbury. Lots of thanks to MC Conrad for staying focused all night and jammin with the rest of us. If anyone has a chance to check their latest stuff out I hightly recommend doing so. Until next time. Some LTJ's latest work.
Spring snow on Mt. Hood - Friday, April 23
Took off a few days this week and headed to Mount Hood for a chance at some fresh snow and beautiful weather. All day Tuesday it was dumping snow with lots of wind gusts, the 12inches of fresh powder made the top to bottom runs a new experience each time. Being tortured by the wind and snow on our way up the mountain but loving the snow conditions we decided to stay at Timberline Lodge and do it again the next day. The lodge was beautiful, we were one of the few, staying in one of the corner rooms. After a night on their legendary feather-beds we woke up to an amazing blue and sunny sky. Overnight there was 10inches of more new snow and was the best spring day of snowboarding to date! Looks like the season could continue into May at Meadows.
Still snowing - Monday, April 19
A wintery morning with temps in the 40s/50s. Just as I was thinking summer was around the corner MotherNature brings in the clouds and freshens neartby Mount Hood with snowfall. Taking note of the change in weather has me thinking about snowboarding once again and am planning a trip up to the mountain for at least one final go. Packing plenty of equipment to ensure quality photographs, I never leave home without at least one camera. Lately shooting with the oversized Mamiya RZ67; not too portable, but worth its weight in the lens alone. My scanner has been busy digitizing some recent photos as I've been mainly turning to the analog method of capturing time in brief moments, one at a time.
Spring nearing - Friday, April 16
Today in SE Portland, enjoying the sweet smell of night rain and waking up to a bright sun around 7.30am. The hum of traffic during commuting hours and then silence again. The day has officially begun. The temps here have dropped from a sweet 80degrees to a chilled 55. Spring looms just around the corner and will continue to tempt everyone's spirits with a repeat of last year's summer. The city is forever green. Fed by clean raindrops. What will the day bring? Positive thoughts will ensure it is blissful.
Staying on top of it all - Thursday, April 15
Much more than snapshots, what the world really looks like from an eye in the sky. GlobeXplorer has the bird's eye view on most metropolitan cities around the world. Wondering what your location looks like, check out the site, enter your address and 'bam' there you have it. In most cities it's as clear as day, updated very recently. One sweet spot to check out is 'the strip' in Las Vegas, a great way to check out all the resort amenities. Type in Las Vegas, NV and it should pop-up in the lower left hand corner. Some serious photo-intelligence.
Sneaking up on a great concept - Friday, April 9
With the approach of summer temps in the US I've been thinking a lot about getting outdoors more often. Seems like forever, but back in 2001 VW unveiled their concept van at the Detroit Auto Show. A star was born. The Microbus. I still have yet to find out when these vehicles will be hitting the production line or if ever. To say the least, it's a great concept.
Spring Ahead - Wednesday, April 7
With the new changes in time I've now been starting my day an hour (according to my current timezone) later. Having just returned to Portland after spending some time in Miami I look forward to getting photos posted and connect with everyone awaiting my email replys. Thanks for all the great email and I look forward to more energy being focused on Decibel Dragon + photography. Newstoday has a great new look and PixelSurgeon rocks the content ever harder. All very inspiring.
More of what's new.
